 Cambridge Business House Cricket League Rules


1 - The League shall be run in divisions with a system of promotion and relegation. 2 teams up 2 teams down in each division depending on the number of teams in each division. In the event of 2 or more teams finishing level on points (top or bottom) deciding matches are to be played.


2 - All fixtures to be arranged at a special meeting after the AGM. Each team playing each other once. Dates arranged by mutual consent. Matches played in the evening unless mutually agreed; if dates cannot be agreed, a meeting between both clubs and League Secretary to decide. A copy of all fixtures to be logged with Chris Fuller email chris_fuller@tesco.net so he can enter them onto play-cricket by 21st March 2017.


3 - Clubs play home and away fixtures as arranged at the fixtures meeting, 3 points for a win 2 for a tie and 1 for a draw. Results will be on number of points divided by number of games played. Games rained off must try to be replayed, if game is abandoned due to rain the game will be 1.5 points. Games not played will be 0 points. Games called off due to not being able to get a team 2 points will be deducted if you give less the 24 hrs notice from team calling off the game. If a club is not able to get a team out more than 3 times they may be removed from the League.(if you have to call a game off give us much notice to the other team as poss).


4 - All matches to start by 6.15 pm and be completed in one evening. If rain or bad light prevents completion then the match is a draw. Any team not having 7 players by 6.45 pm forfeits the match. Each side to bowl 15 x 8 ball overs no bowler to bowl more than 4 overs 5 bowlers must be used, each game to be started by the toss of a coin , visiting captain calling. The rules of the cup competition to generally as above.  The secretary will book a ground and date for the cup which will be give after the  fixture meeting. In the event of a tie the side having lost fewer wickets shall be the winner if this fails to decide it shall be replayed on mutually agreed date or as in Rules 2.A new ball may be used at the start of each innings agreed at the time of the tossing of the coin before the start of the game or you can play with one ball if both teams agree.


5 - Each club to forward to the secretary on or before the 1st May A FULL list of all players that you may wish to play during the season. Players of Minor County, County 2nd XI or above standard of present or previous season are ineligible. The names of any new players shall be registered 48 hrs before playing. No players to be registered after the 31st May. Clubs may with the agreement of the other captain priory to the start of the game play a no registered play the non-registered player may not play more that 3 games for that club . Any clubs playing a non-registered player shall forfeit points and be fined £5.


6 - An annual sub covering the league and cup to be paid at the AGM At present stands at £30 not in the cup £35 in the cup failure to pay my result in expulsion from the league.

In 2017 we set the cost at £20 not in the Cup and £25 in the cup this is for this year only.


7 - Only matches played by the second Monday in August shall count  in drawing the league tables, unless the committee extends deadline.


8 - Winning clubs shall enter the score onto play-cricket or email the secretary the result.

 

9 - It is open to any club to enter protest against any supposed breach of rules. Such protest to be accompanied by £5 deposit returnable if upheld.


10 - Alterations to league rules can be made by writing to the secretary prior to the 1st March pending the AGM. Notification to clubs with AGM notice. Alterations made by majority decision 1 club 1 vote.


11 - All teams to send a rep to the AGM providing 7 days notice is given, unless they write to the secretary giving notice of absence. Failure to do so may result in expulsion.


12 - A club on being presented with a trophy shall individually and collectively undertake to guarantee its safe custody and undertake to return same to secretary on demand in like condition and order.
